Weekend roundup
This weekend was awesome. After the rain the city felt fresh and crisp, like coming out of a shower. Besides my regular dose of work I got some free time to play with some of my new toys. Here’s a “quick” summary. Also, I wanted to share a bunch of sites I’ve found, I think you could find them useful.
Poweriser udpate: I took them out only on Sunday because Saturday I was mostly busy and I was afraid it would rain again rain… So far wet slick sidewalks aren’t so good for me. I’ll have a video of my latest footage compiled soon. Since I just published my other poweriser summary of the day, I don’t have much to add right now, except that I took a lot of video. But I haven’t even looked at it so I don’t know if its any good, stay tuned…
Camera: This weekend presented a lot of good photo ops because of the cloudy bright skies, clean roads, and then on Sunday the morning was so fresh and super clear, like out of a travel magazine or something. Okay maybe not that great but good enough to find some cool shots.
I took all kinds of shots, and I’m slowly learning some of the tools the camera makes available to me. Please keep in mind, I’m only a beginner and so the photos reflect that. With that said, if you have any critiques, please leave a comment either here or on the photo itself; I thank you in advance for any tips, suggestions and stuff.
Below are a couple of my favorite ones from this weekend. I found apples in SJC (see Shooting OC). Someone was feeding birds and it was cool that the bids would snatch the food in mid-air (see Birds Feeding). For dinner on Saturday we had Opah, I found it caught fresh at Pearson’s Port, When I was at the lake, I ran into “The dog with the fro“, I found an antique roadside market in Lake Forest. Some of the photos are are geo-tagged on Flickr so you can see where they were taken if that interests you.
Tamales! My girlfriend and I will be making tamales this coming weekend. The shopping list is ready. Hopefully they will come out as good as last years’ if not better!
Here are those links I wanted to tell you about… if you haven’t seen them.
How to build your own telescope. Hackzine put together a nice article with references on how to build your own telescope. Looks like a fun project for those of you into Astronomy.
Also from Hackzine, did you know you can turn your computer’s soundcard into an oscilloscope?
Check out some of the coolest HDR photos I’ve found at Stuck in Customs.
Thats its for now. Peace!
