Starbucks rewards!?

I read this today on Boring Market. I like the idea that regular/loyal customers at starbucks would get addons for free. I would really welcome this benefit. Lately I’ve been cutting back on my white chocolate mochas because they are so expensive, I usually get a quad shot and those 2 added shots really drain your wallet. I know I probably should just cut Starbucks out of my diet and budget altogether but its so good! Before I read about this, I had been pondering on the idea of a rewards type of system that would work at Starbucks. I thought that there should be an “unlimited” plan so to speak.

For example:

  • pay $5.00/day for unlimited Regular coffee.
  • pay $12.00/day for unlimited specialty drinks. With the price of drinks $3.00-5.50, this would be nice because instead of paying $15.00 to $18.00 those days when I bounce from starbucks to starbucks.

Anyway, here’s the bit about the rewards.

Starbucks wants to reward loyal customers. Starbucks is going to roll out in April a rewards program that will cater to its loyal customers. This program works by focusing on the customization of customers drinks by giving customers modifications like syrup or an added shot on the ‘house’. This means that with a registered Starbucks cards individuals who get a drink such as a tall soy hazelnut latte will only be charged the price of a tall latte. Complimentary Tall beverage of choice (including Frappuccino® blended beverages) with the purchase of one pound of whole bean coffee and free refills on brewed coffee will be two new additions to the rewards program.

  1. Interesting. I’m glad to see they are doing something to stay competitive. I’m all for anything that brings my regular cup o joe price down from $1.95

  2. yeah I hear you, McDonald’s and other big names are starting to inch into coffee territory.
