Follow-up, PicLens awesomeness.

If you didn’t read my last post about PicLens, you should. I want to highlight a few of the really cool features this addon has. I have had a bit more time now to play with it, and I’m very impressed. Even more so than when I started using it. Last night, while I was lounging around surfing the web I decided to check out the discover mode available from this Addon. The one thing I couldn’t do was to take a screenshot of it to show you. I didn’t spend too much time trying to get one, but it seems that the hotkeys for taking screenshots in OS X aren’t available while using PicLens. But that’s not a big deal, I’ll try to explain what I saw. Continue Reading “Follow-up, PicLens awesomeness.” »

Poweriser update

So I got to play with my Poweriser this weekend for a couple of hours. I ran around the lake for a couple hours. When I say I ran, I mean I hoped around clumsily. It was a lot of fun though, I can’t wait to go again.

When I got back home, at the end, I got a little bit of video. I’m slowly making progress. From standing up, to walking to “jogging” and now jumping, albeit awkward, but it is jumping. :)

Here are 2 videos, the first one is last week, just starting to attempt jumps. The second one is about a week later (last Sunday) and I’m a lot more comfortable trying to get air.

wining and dining in Napa

This past weekend I went to Napa with my girlfriend, her sister and her boyfriend. It was a cool trip and definitely would go back. Some circumstances would certainly be different but I would like to go back sometime soon maybe even next year around springtime.

We hit a few of the big winneries, Merryvale, Domaine Chandon, V. Sattui, and a bunch of smaller ones. I took a lot of pictures so head on over to flickr to check them out. There isn’t a whole lot to do in a couple days there other than wine tasting but we managed to go to The Press, an excellent steakhouse. Continue Reading “wining and dining in Napa” »

Stonehenge has been a scientific puzzle for a long time. This guy found a way to move rocks as big as Stonehenge’s all by himself. Move them, lift them, raise them up. And he does it all by himself, with simple gravity powered tools.

Really cool stuff

ROFL. If that doesn’t make you smile then I dont know what to do for you. I’m watching Discovery Channel and they are showing a project that recorded elephants like never before. They were recorded with the use “mobile dung cams” So they made cameras that look like the elephant dropings and placed them in their most frequented spots. Then they can control the cameras from a distance and actually change their position simply by controlling the remote vehicle hidden inside. Pretty nifty eh?.

Some of the shots they took are beyond amazing (video link). The most impressive scene I watched showed two bull elephants fighting. If you’re into watching stuff about animals this is something to check out. They also caught a new elephant being born and the first days of its life. Really really upclose.

Some of the cameras used are said to cost upwards of 10,000 British Pounds and are custom designed to fit the enviroment. They also made salmon-cam, boulder-cam and other types. All to catch wildlife up close and personal. Pretty damn cool I thought.
