Open Source food?

Does this sounds like “open source” dining? I had this link and wanted to post it but for some reason I never actually did until now. I thought it would be interesting to visit one of these places.

At Terra Bite Lounge in the Seattle suburb of Kirkland, most diners slip cash into a donation slot by the barista, while others just walk away without bothering to pay. “If I forget to bring enough money, I can just give more next time,” says real-estate consultant Tina Cooper, who stops at Terra Bite most mornings for what she claims is the best soy latte in the neighborhood.

Pittsburgh couple sues Google over Street View

So is this the first lawsuit to be brought to Google over Street View?

When Street View first came on the scene, the first thing I thought was: Who is going to be the first person to sue Google over a picture of their house. I thought that maybe Streetview would catch a revealing picture. Like if you hang your clothes out to dry and the Google guys caught a snapshot of your tidy whities. This case is not quite like this, I think the scenario I mention would be more entertaining than the actual case brought on. The couple suing Google, claims that the Google van drove into a “private” road and then took pictures of their house. This is the reason why they’re suing.

Bizarre news, Lady stuck to a toilet

I found this while reading some of my news feeds this morning. This is just way too bizarre to explain. Check it out…

The boyfriend called police on Feb. 27 to report that “there was something wrong with his girlfriend,” Whipple said, adding that he never explained why it took him two years to call.

Police found the clothed woman sitting on the toilet, her sweat pants down to her mid-thigh. She was “somewhat disoriented,” and her legs looked like they had atrophied, Whipple said. - link.

There are also a few other similar reports, ksn, congoo, yahoo, story is by the AP.

Strange drink, essence of chicken.

I’m killing some time at the airport. Our flight was supposed to leave at 6:55, then they moved it to 7:30, not it says 8:44. All because ofa little drizzle. Sigh.

Well, I dug up this picture from my recent photo sprees, and I thought I’d share it with you.

The human slinky

This is pretty cool

This is just asinine. It is ridiculous for the parents to name their baby Metallica, but it is also ridiculous for the government to decide that you can’t give this name to your child. Another one of those cases where I must play devil’s advocate and see both sides of the story. On one side, the parents are nuts for wanting to name their kid Metallica. I mean its a cool name and all and it may face less playground ridicule than a dozen other names I can think of. But it is still an odd name and the kid will have to live with it for the rest of her life. On the flip side, the government has no right to determine if the name is appropriate or “ugly”. Not only is this stance offensive, it is a perfect example of government and bureaucracy overstepping their bounds. Unfortunately Sweden does not use a true democratic style of government so maybe their leaders do have a legal say on what you name your kid.

Santa Rosa Press Democrat
Although little Metallica has already been baptized, the Swedish National Tax Board refused to register the name, saying it was associated with both the rock group and the word “metal.”

Tomaro said the official handling the case also called the name “ugly.”

More information on extra appendages

So after the show I watched earlier, I had to do a little more research.

I found a couple pages relevant to the topic:

This one explains a little more on the logistics of inserting an ear under the ear… exactly waht I watched.

The lifting of the ear form and the lobule construction would be done 4-6 months after the cartilage has been placed beneath the skin. Alternatives to using cartilage are silicon implants or surgical implant material such as Medpor, which is a porous polyethylene substance. The advantage of Medpor over silicon would be that it allows vascularisation and ingrowth of tissue into the implant. Cartilage is preferable, but it requires an operation under general anaesthesia…link

This is an older news article..

While it cannot hear, with an implanted sound chip and a proximity sensor, the ear will be able to speak to anyone who gets close to it.

The artist also has plans to couple it with a modem and a wearable computer so that it doubles as an internet antenna, able to broadcast RealAudio sounds to supplement the local sounds that the actual ears hear, thus scaling up the body’s senses…… link

So basically what I saw was an ear made of cartriladge or Medpor. How bizarre! It does remind me of that picture we all saw years back that showed a mouse with a human ear seemingly growing out of his back. If you haven’t seen it, its in one of the articles. But here it is… eww.
