San Francisco & Prosper Day photos

As I have posted over the past couple of days, I got a chance to make two small trips. The first one was to San Francisco. Fortunately I got to see my sister and hang out with my girlfriend, but the main purpose of the trip was to attend Prosper Days 2008. I had a blast. Here are the picture highlights from the trip, I am still debating whether to post pictures from the Prosper Days event. I think some people might be sensitive and I rather not upset anyone. With that, here are some pictures I got around town.

Virgin America, just like any other.

My friends and family were all excited when I told them I would be traveling to San Francisco for Prosper Days. Well not really excited, but at least interested that I was going to travel in the newer Virgin America airline; also, they didn’t really care that I was going to Prosper Days. In anyway, I told them I would report back on how the flight went. If you ask me to be honest, I would tell you that the flight wasn’t anything special, nor was the airline.

Getting ready for Prosper Days

IMG_3035.jpg

We got into town last night, just fine. A little late because of the rain, but it wasn’t too bad. I have to say though, I am not impressed with Virgin America. Our flight had no entertainment system, and the seats are not any more comfortable than any of the other airlines I’ve flown in the past, I’ll tell you more about that later.

But in any case… now, I’m sitting at Cafe Royale, its a bar near my sister’s place. It is very eclectic I guess, they serve wine, and beer; they have a small art gallery and today they had Jazz for a while. They also have free wi-fi so that’s the main reason why I’m here.

Prosper Days starts tomorrow and its only 0.6 miles away from my sister’s place so that’s great. The only thing is that the weather has been kind of gloomy so far; hopefully it won’t rain when we head out in the morning. Registration starts at 7 and the sessions start at 9:00.

I have already had a blast today. My sister, girlfriend and I went to Golden Gate Park today. We walked by the De Young museum and took a tour of the Japanese Tea Garden. Then we walked around the Botanical Garden and that was very interesting as well.

The food so far has been great, We had Thai for dinner last night at Osha Thai Noodle. This morning we had breakfast at the Crepe House, and then dinner at Hotei Noodles. The girls are anxious to go back to the house so I will wrap it up for now. I’ll try to post some more tomorrow. Peace out.

Uhm excuse me, there’s a worm in my food.

So as you might have read, I recently went to San Francisco. I’d been there twice before but never got a chance to actually do anything as a visitor, both times I was there I simply drove through and had lunch en-route back to Socal.

This time I got to experience more of the city, with my girlfriend and family. One of the days we were there, we showed up to Kuleto’s. We had a reservation because according to my girlfriend, this place is the shit! So I was all excited. The place turned out to be one of the worse experiences I’ve had in fine dining. Here’s my experience and review of Kuleto’s. In short, don’t ever go there.

We were seated promptly, however our table was absolutely unaccommodating. We had reserved a table for 10 a couple weeks in advance, I would think this would allow the restaurant to plan accordingly and provide us with a decent table. I can’t say that the table was bad, but it was probably the most inconvenient table in the whole place. They essentially put a table near a corner area with a “bench” kind of like a booth and so we had , 4 people on chairs, 4 people on the bench, 1 person at the head of the table and one person on the bench on the other side of the table. Needless to say, the 4 people on the bench were locked in place. It was a hassle for them to leave the table and use the restroom for example. This is kind of normal I guess, but it made for an unpleasant experience.

Our table was poorly setup when we sat down. We ordered wine, and one of us placed their wine down on the table and it simply fell over and spilled everywhere. We found the reason for this wasn’t sloppiness or drunkenness as you might have guessed, it was simply that the lazy and rude waiter didn’t put the table together correctly. The tables had a few inches gap in between, and this gap was covered by the table cloth. So when the wine was placed there, it tipped over because there wasn’t an actual table there… just a gap and table cloth covering this. When we brought this to the attention of the waiter, he brushed it off as if asking “so what”? And tossed a bunch of napkins on the table for us to clean it up. We simply ended up covering the spilled wine with 3 or 4 napkins. Continue Reading “Uhm excuse me, there’s a worm in my food.” »

Great, freezing temperatures in Toronto

Great. The temperature in Toronto now… 28-26 F. As reported by the fancy Google gadgets. The rest of the week does not look much better. A week of that weather and I’ll be ready to get back to my comfortable mid 70s weather.

Oh yeah so farewell, I’ll be back soon. I’m off to technical training… yeah, can you believe it? And yeah! its in another country… even if its just Canada.

peace out.
