Serious drive thru pharmacy.

Brilliant, xcept for the fumes

In my last trip to Mexico, I thought this was very interesting. They have drive through pharmacies and stores, but not like you know them here in the US. When you’re down there, you don’t pull up to a window and order a few things and wait. They have drive through pharmacies where you actually drive into a small building and people assist you from both sides of the car. You tell them what you want and as you drive through it, they put it in bags then tally it up. You pay at the end and then your bags are delivered to your windows and you’re on your way

Virgin America, just like any other.

My friends and family were all excited when I told them I would be traveling to San Francisco for Prosper Days. Well not really excited, but at least interested that I was going to travel in the newer Virgin America airline; also, they didn’t really care that I was going to Prosper Days. In anyway, I told them I would report back on how the flight went. If you ask me to be honest, I would tell you that the flight wasn’t anything special, nor was the airline.

off to SF we go… again.

I’m off to San Francisco. In a few hours I’ll be on the road, heading up north to drop off my lil sister. I got about 12-16 hours of “idle” driving time. Hopefully my newly loaded iPod will keep the beats bumpin the whole way up and down. I’m also planning to make a few photo stops. For those of you interested on a turn by turn overview of my trip, head over to twitter. I don’t know how much I’ll update on there, and I don’t think anyone would really care to see the updates anyway.

We’re planning on leaving around 2 am, get up there by 9 or before. crash for a couple hours and then I’ll drive back.

hopefully my car won’t be as dirty as this one when I get up there or come back.

Wow, that's dirty.

wining and dining in Napa

This past weekend I went to Napa with my girlfriend, her sister and her boyfriend. It was a cool trip and definitely would go back. Some circumstances would certainly be different but I would like to go back sometime soon maybe even next year around springtime.

We hit a few of the big winneries, Merryvale, Domaine Chandon, V. Sattui, and a bunch of smaller ones. I took a lot of pictures so head on over to flickr to check them out. There isn’t a whole lot to do in a couple days there other than wine tasting but we managed to go to The Press, an excellent steakhouse. Continue Reading “wining and dining in Napa” »

So I’m back at work today, got home on Sunday and had Monday to unpack, clear my mind and get ready for work. I’m back with a sense of wonder, a desire to explore more. I loved Vancouver and I enjoyed this vacation more than almost any other vacation I’ve had in years. Here are some pictures from the trip. I have a lot of stuff to share so hopefully I’ll get those posts done soon. Enjoy the photos for now. Continue Reading “Thank you Vancouver. I had a great time.” »

Vancouver - Second day

We woke up early, had breakfast and headed out to Stanley Park.

We walked for about an hour or more through downtown to get to Stanley Park. Stanley park is huge and its actually pretty cool. I thought it’d be boring and plain , but there’s a lot of cool stuff to see there. We took pictures everywhere and after 2 or 3 hours of walking through the park looking at different things, we stopped to have a cold beer. A good local beer was in order along with some overpriced salmon croquettes. LOL, that name just cracks me up cuz in spanish croquetas is what you feed to the dogs. haha. Vancouver - First Day.

We made it out of LAX a bit late, we missed our flight, but luckily thy had another one leaving about an hour later so we were able to get on that.

After landing at YVR (Vancouver), we had to stay in line for customs for over 1 hour, I am not kidding you. The line was just like a line during the summer at a brand new attraction at Disneyland. We finally made it past that and went to exchange some green. It turns out that yesterday (haven’t checked today) the CAD was worth more than the USD. So we exchanged our money and headed out to the city. We found the bus we needed to take and within minutes we were on the road, we passed through what looked like suburbs and nice neighborhoods, some of the houses were huge, If you found a house that size in Irvine or OC, they’d be about 2.5-4.5 million so hopefully that gives you an idea of the size of these houses. Uhm excuse me, there’s a worm in my food.

So as you might have read, I recently went to San Francisco. I’d been there twice before but never got a chance to actually do anything as a visitor, both times I was there I simply drove through and had lunch en-route back to Socal.

This time I got to experience more of the city, with my girlfriend and family. One of the days we were there, we showed up to Kuleto’s. We had a reservation because according to my girlfriend, this place is the shit! So I was all excited. The place turned out to be one of the worse experiences I’ve had in fine dining. Here’s my experience and review of Kuleto’s. In short, don’t ever go there.

We were seated promptly, however our table was absolutely unaccommodating. We had reserved a table for 10 a couple weeks in advance, I would think this would allow the restaurant to plan accordingly and provide us with a decent table. I can’t say that the table was bad, but it was probably the most inconvenient table in the whole place. They essentially put a table near a corner area with a “bench” kind of like a booth and so we had , 4 people on chairs, 4 people on the bench, 1 person at the head of the table and one person on the bench on the other side of the table. Needless to say, the 4 people on the bench were locked in place. It was a hassle for them to leave the table and use the restroom for example. This is kind of normal I guess, but it made for an unpleasant experience.

Our table was poorly setup when we sat down. We ordered wine, and one of us placed their wine down on the table and it simply fell over and spilled everywhere. We found the reason for this wasn’t sloppiness or drunkenness as you might have guessed, it was simply that the lazy and rude waiter didn’t put the table together correctly. The tables had a few inches gap in between, and this gap was covered by the table cloth. So when the wine was placed there, it tipped over because there wasn’t an actual table there… just a gap and table cloth covering this. When we brought this to the attention of the waiter, he brushed it off as if asking “so what”? And tossed a bunch of napkins on the table for us to clean it up. We simply ended up covering the spilled wine with 3 or 4 napkins. Continue Reading “Uhm excuse me, there’s a worm in my food.” »

San Francisco adventures

So I went to San Francisco this past weekend. My little sister graduated, so we came up to her ceremony and to celebrate. San Francisco was awesome, I had been there before only in passing. Twice I had lunch on or near Fisherman’s Wharf, but this time I was there for the whole weekend.

I have so much to write about but I also have a lot of stuff to catch up on. Both my work and personal hiveminder list is growing every few minutes so I’ll tell you more in detail about my trip to the City by the Bay.

The Muni made one of us sick. The night before, we went to a fancy restaurant and we found a grub in our food. We hit an Irish pub with a piano bar and got tanked. We walked until my feet were sore, we were harassed by the crazies on Market street and got to ride on BART. I walked into Chinatown, I had a clam chowder breadbowl at Pier 39. I saw my sister Graduate with her BA.

I had fun, hopefully tonight I can show you some pictures and tell you a little more about the little adventures we had.
